Out of Town Patients

Initial consultations are always complimentary at Smith Cosmetic Surgery, whether in person, by phone, or by video chat. Our friendly and helpful office staff will assist you by scheduling the phone or video consultation directly with the surgeon at a time that is convenient for you. If a phone consultation is preferred, we ask that you email a front and a side photo of yourself so the doctor can analyze your concerns and provide recommendations. Photos should be taken against a solid background capturing the entire face and neck. It is best if another individual takes the photos, as ‘selfie mode’ can distort our appearance and please, no filters.

Our out-of-town patients will often have family in the area that they are able to stay with while recovering, but we know this isn’t always the case. Comfort and convenience are key during recovery, and we would be happy to suggest accommodations that will ensure both, so you have peace of mind.

Our priority is that you are as prepared as possible for surgery and preparation begins with education. Once you’ve chosen a surgery date a comprehensive surgical booklet will be customized specifically to you and the procedures you’ve chosen. This booklet will be your guide through the entire surgical process so please keep it handy and share it with your trusted caregiver. A pre-operative appointment will occur two weeks prior to your surgery day. If you’re not able to fly in for this visit, then we can easily accomplish this by phone.

At Smith Cosmetic Surgery you are like family, and we are going to be with you every step of the way during recovery. You will typically have scheduled post-operative follow-up appointments the day after cosmetic surgery, as well as at one week and 10 days post-op. While recovery time will vary depending on the procedure, most patients return home 10 days to two weeks from the date of their surgery.

It is imperative that you enlist the support of a caregiver that will not only drive you to and from your surgery and next day follow-up appointment but will also be hands on with your post-operative care. This individual will assist with providing you food, administering medications, changing out icing packs, and performing incisional care. This is required at a minimum for the first 24 hours but is suggested in many cases to be 48-72 hours. We realize this can create a challenge for some and we can help. Our team has access to caregivers who will assist with your care for a reasonable fee.
